Webinar: The Layered Impact of Trauma in Healthcare

Presented by Fiona Sutherland, Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Director of The Mindful Dietitian

It will probably come as no surprise to hear that there are significant experiences of trauma and chronic stress within our personal and professional communities. Combined with a lack of resources and support, plus a two-year pandemic, it’s no wonder many health professionals are burnt out and our clients and communities are really struggling. Trauma-informed principles offer a valuable framework to understand our own, and others, experiences as humans with a nervous system which seeks safety and responds to threat and danger in ways which can be very harmful to us both individually and collectively.

During the webinar, we will explore foundational concepts of trauma-informed care and how we can not only take great care of our clients and consumers, but also our professional communities.

This webinar is supported by WACHS and WAPHA in line with strategy 4 (Build workforce capability and confidence) in the WA Healthy Weight Action Plan, which includes training on trauma-informed practices.
