This Age Friendly Charter created in collaboration between WA Primary Health Alliance and the City of Albany, reflected the values and aspirations as told by older community members in the Lower Great Southern, and how together as service providers and government, we could work to improve the ways in which people in our community can live longer, healthier, and happier lives.

The City of Albany have further demonstrated their commitment to becoming an age-friendly place to live with the development of the Age Friendly Plan 2023-2027 and in late 2024, being accepted into the WHO’s Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities, the only local government area outside of the Perth metropolitian area in WA.
These documents are much more than just titles and warm words, these documents have and are guiding the work the City undertakes. From the installation of more age-friendly seating, better transport options and educational workshops through to many senior-focused events and the physical, social, and educational activities program ‘Long Live You’ the City is continuously looking at ways to be more age-friendly.
