Youth specific alcohol and other drug treatment services within the East Pilbara for the underserviced 8 – 14 year old cohort who are engaging in, or at significant risk of problematic drug use. Youth engagement workers and a child clinical psychologist work with the young person and their families, schools and support workers to provide intensive counselling support and to find constructive alternatives to drug and alcohol use.

The service will be delivered by an appropriately skilled workforce and it will adopt a holistic approach that includes physical, mental, spiritual, cultural, emotional and social wellbeing to address Aboriginal alcohol and other drug issues.

This program works with people, including Aboriginal people, to provide individual case management services to improve the access to individual counselling and other professional services for people who have problematic alcohol and substance use issues and mental health issues. This outpatient outreach service provides case management focusing on problems that underly drug and alcohol addiction and relapse prevention. This service increases access rates, maximising the number of people receiving evidenced based drug and alcohol treatment interventions and management. The program provides physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing via medical treatment, individual and group counselling, education, psychological therapies and group support during and after treatment. Outreach services aim to reduce alcohol and drug related harm to the individual and the broader community and assist them to recover on country in a safe and culturally appropriate environment.

This program delivers evidence-based alcohol and other drug treatment strategies to reduce related harm and improve access to AOD services for individuals and families. It provides essential coordination with other mental health services to ensure an integrated approach is achieved. This service has an open-door approach to facilitate referral pathways into cost effective moderately intensive treatment and intervention programs which reduces demand on GPs and hospital emergency department. Therapy sessions can be either one-on-one, group sessions, outreach visits or via telehealth. This program also provides the opportunity to strengthen and support community resilience and capacity by addressing antisocial drug related behaviours.

The activity delivers a comprehensive range of treatment options to dual diagnoses mental health and substance users and their families in Leonora, Laverton and surrounding communities. It provides an immediate response and has the flexibility to allow the service to be responsive at the time when the clients need the service the most (which is afterhours) and also support the local hospital and community needs. This program delivers evidence-based alcohol and other drug treatment strategies to reduce related harm and improve access to AOD services for individuals and families. It will provides essential coordination with other mental health services to ensure an integrated approach is achieved. This program is supported by therapeutic interventions provided by a registered Psychologist for people referred for mental health counselling. This service has an open-door approach to facilitate referral pathways into cost effective moderately intensive treatment and intervention programs which reduces demand on GPs and hospital emergency department.
