Advancements in digital technologies has been transforming the lives of many Western Australians over the past twenty years. Digital health is playing a larger role in not only how a person’s information is gathered, stored and accessed, but also how it relates to all aspects of the community, social and health care systems.

This includes the use of highly advanced and specialised tools for procedures, interactions between providers, how services and funding are allocated, the mediums and the available infrastructure used to deliver patient-centred treatment.

Our role is to simplify access to primary care by planning, guiding and directing investment towards important services. By using data and technology to assist us in improving and providing a more coordinated approach, we can better identify priorities, link services, and fund options for better primary care.

Digital health can strengthen preventive health care, improve quality of care, reduce costs both for health organisations and service users as well as improve health equity in Western Australia. Digital health connects health care providers and consumers, improves access to care and ensures information key clinical information is shared securely to enable safer, better quality health care.

By partnering with local service providers, GPs and allied health professionals, we work to deliver better health, together.

If you would like to initiate or expand your digital health capabilities at your practice, we can assist you. Please contact the Practice Assist team or email our digital health team via practiceassist@wapha.org.au.

    Australian Digital Health Agency

The Australian Digital Health Agency is the government-funded organisation tasked with developing and supporting digital health across all areas of health.

We work in partnership with the Agency to help progress health care in Western Australia into the digital frontier. By using innovation in the delivery of care to address inequitable access, we shape, strengthen and sustain a health system that is fit for the future.

The Agency is responsible for developing key standardisation frameworks and guidelines such as the National Clinical Terminology Service, the eHealth Reference Platform, security protocols and key service infrastructure. These frameworks and guidelines provide a solid national foundation to enable digital health initiatives such as My Health Record to fully flourish.
