EOI: Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinics

EOI: Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinics expansion in the Perth North PHN region

Background:

On 9 February 2025, the Australian Government announced funding of $19.6 million (GST exclusive) over three years (2025-26 to 2027-28) to support the establishment of 11 new Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinics (EPPCs). This measure will expand the network of EPPCs from 22 to 33 across Australia. The expansion of this program will enable EPPCs to provide care, support, treatment and management of symptoms for perimenopause and menopause.

The objectives to this program are to:

  • improve access for patients to diagnostic, treatment and referral services for endometriosis and pelvic pain.
  • improve access for patients to care, treatment and management for perimenopause and menopause.
  • increase access to allied health and support services.
  • increase access to health care for patients from priority populations, particularly those in underserved communities.
  • provide access to new information, care pathways and networks.
  • provide an appropriately trained workforce with expertise in endometriosis, pelvic pain, perimenopause and menopause.

            The opportunity:

As the leader of WA’s three Primary Health Networks (PHNs). WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) in conjunction with the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (DHDA) is seeking expressions of interest from general practices to participate in the Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain (EPPC) expansion in the Perth North PHN region.

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to improve the provision of diagnosis, treatment and management of endometriosis and pelvic pain, and the treatment and management of perimenopause and menopause symptoms. This funding targets GP practices that currently deliver services with a focus on women’s health, including endometriosis, pelvic pain management, perimenopause and menopause. Funding will be provided to a maximum of 11 existing general practices across Australia to set up as EPPCs to enhance their capability and capacity to support patients with endometriosis and pelvic pain, and perimenopause and menopause symptoms.

It is expected that these clinics will enable appropriate endometriosis care and management, leading to improved diagnosis timeframes and appropriate pain management for impacted patients. EPPCs can also provide care, support, treatment and management of symptoms associated with menopause, including throughout the menopause transition (perimenopause) and post-menopause.

Funding will be $770,000 (ex GST) per EPPC, spread across three financial years.

The DHDA is commissioning PHNs to administer and manage the program on behalf of the department, including entering into agreements and making eligible payments to the successful GP practices. WAPHA will shortlist based on DHDA criteria up to two WA-based general practices to the department who will complete the final evaluation and selection. One practice will be selected to operate the EPPC.

            Eligibility requirements:
