The Commonwealth has announced that PHNs will receive funding to work with key local stakeholders to plan, coordinate and support after hours health services.

It will focus on addressing gaps in after hours service provision, ‘at risk’ populations and improved service integration.

Presently, we don’t have an indicative budget or any indication of the nature of PHN funding for after hours so we are unable to make any commitments to continuity.

As soon as this information becomes available from the Commonwealth we will post an update on the WAPHA website.

The Commonwealth Government announced new funding arrangements for the delivery of after hours primary health care and a cessation of funding to the After Hours GP helpline.

A new PIP After Hours Incentive will be introduced and available to all eligible accredited practices registered for PIP.

It will have five payment levels and will provide payments to accredited general practices that ensure their patients have access to quality after hours care.

The PIP After Hours Incentive will be based on a practice’s Standardised Whole Patient Equivalent (SWPE).
