Grow Local 2019

Grow Local Certificate IV in Mental Health

Grow Local is a free community training initiative developed in response to the difficulties faced in recruiting and retaining culturally appropriate mental health workers to assist and support Aboriginal people in the Goldfields and Midwest.

We are now pleased to continue our partnership with the Australian Medical Association (WA) to offer the CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health qualification free of charge to interested people living in the Pilbara, Goldfields, Wheatbelt, Midwest, South West and Great Southern regions.

This course is recommended for people who do not have formal mental health qualifications or who work in support, case work or mentoring roles in residential, home-based outreach or centre-based environments, or who want to support their community with culturally appropriate mental health support.

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Apply understanding of mental health issues and recovery processes.
  • Conduct assessment and planning as part of the recovery process.
  • Work effectively in mental health settings.
  • Establish and maintain communication and relationships to support the recovery process.

Grow Local 2019 will take place from March 2019 to May 2020. Participants will be required to attend one, two day workshop per month.

Click on a link below If you would like to download an expression of interest form or speak to someone in your area. Places are limited and expressions of interest close Friday, 8 March 2019.

Due to an overwhelming response, expressions of interest for Karratha , Kalgoorlie, Northam, Bunbury and Albany have now closed.  Interested applicants in Carnarvon can still apply via the form below.
