The region is rich in Aboriginal culture with a population of 8 per cent compared to 3 per cent for WA mostly living in remote communities like Tjuntjuntjara  while 12 of the 17 communities are on the Ngaanyatjarra Lands.

The Goldfields region is located in the south eastern corner of WA, incorporating 10 Local Government Authorities including Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Dundas, Esperance, Laverton, Leonora, Menzies, Ngaanyatjarraku, Ravensthorpe, Coolgardie and Wiluna.

The largest area in WA from sprawling deserts in the north and east, to pristine white beaches in the South.
