Controversies in treating high blood pressure in general practice

May 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

VentureWise, NPS MedicineWise, and Prospection have joined forces to establish Clinical Trial Assist—an initiative to test new and innovative clinical trial models in primary care. The University of New South Wales and The George Institute are leading research projects as part of the pilot. Our common goal is to build a more streamlined, time efficient and user-friendly model for GPs and practices to identify and refer patients for clinical trials.

Join us for a free education session on hypertension at the University Club of Western Australia on Wednesday 16 May 2018, 6:30pm – 8pm.

Hear a keynote presentation by acclaimed renal physician and hypertension specialist, Professor Markus Schlaich, MD, FAHA, FESC, NHMRC Senior Research Fellow. Professor Schlaich is at the forefront of research into hypertension and is the Dobney Chair in Clinical Research at the Royal Perth Hospital and the University of Western Australia.
You will also hear about a current clinical trial by The George Institute, Curtin University and Sydney University and how to assess patient suitability for inclusion.
 The session will cover:
•  Recent research findings and the implications of these for your practice.
• Use and interpretation of blood pressure monitoring in a busy practice, including 24-hr
monitoring.
• Tailoring hypertension management to your patients – what medicine to use next?
• What are the benefits of current clinical trials to your patients?
This activity has been accredited for 2 (Category 2) points in the RACGP QI & CPD Program for the 2017 – 2019 triennium (activity number 130393).
